Q: What Are Your Thoughts On Medications?
A: We use medications as a last resort and are hopeful that therapy will work without medications. However, if you are already on medications, we usually continue your regimen and work toward a day where you can be free of them.
Q: How Long Does Treatment Last?
A: Treatment times vary from individual to individual, but our goal is to work until you are symptom free and emotional suffering is ended.
Q: At What Age/When Should A Child Or Adolescent Be Seen?
A: Parents are usually the first to notice that there is an issue, but often times, teachers or school counselors will also see issues and bring it to a parent’s attention. We encourage parents to pay attention to their instincts and come in for an evaluation, which may or may not lead to further treatment.
Q: Does The Gender Of The Therapist Matter? Should I See Someone Who Is Either My Gender Or The Opposite Gender?
A: Training and a good patient/therapist match is much more important than the gender of the therapist. All of our therapists are trained to work with all genders and understand gender issues. Of course, if a patient has a strong feeling in this regard, then it will be discussed during the evaluation.
Q: How Long Is Each Therapy Session?
A: Therapy sessions average from 45-60 minutes in length.
